Dr Tim Thornton
The COVID-19 pandemic has provided us with an opportunity to take a serious look at how we can build a better, fairer and more just society – a society with a thriving biodiversity and safer climate.
Join us for a discussion with Dr Tim Thornton, Director, School of Political Economy where we will explore economic pathways such as Green Growth, Green New Deal, Steady-State and De-Growth. We will also take a peek at Amsterdam’s recent adoption of the Doughnut model which has been described by George Monbiot as a “breakthrough alternative to growth economics”.
Tim has a long teaching career spanning economics, political economy and economic history at both La Trobe and Monash Uni, picking up teaching prizes along the way. When he is not working at the School of Political Economy he is employed as a Senior Researcher Fellow at Boston University. Don't miss this opportunity to learn how we can build a more sustainable community.
